Prerelease Info - READ ME FIRST!

We hope you'll find that this prerelease version will enable you to make
web pages faster and easier (and we hope it will also be fun). However,
"prerelease" means several things:
- Yes, there are some bugs. Please write down any problems you see and
let us know about them. But most importantly, save your work often!
We hope you won't have any data-loss errors, but in case you do, be prepared.
Let me repeat: save often!
- Please don't use PageMill directly on your original source copy of your
web pages; please work on a copy. Depending on how HTML-savvy you
are, it may be important to learn how PageMill works with the underlying
HTML, to see how it may effect your work. Also, there are a number of places
where we are not preserving original HTML details; we are working to limit
these (in fact, we'd like to know if you spot any).
- There are some features missing from this prerelease version
that will appear in the 1.0 version. (We prefer not to publish features
until the code is fairly robust.) We hope you won't mind too much. Actually,
for those of you who have seen PageMill in an earlier version, you will
see some new features that we hadn't originally planned to have in 1.0!
Some key things that are not in this version:
- Printing is not yet implemented.
- The support for internal anchors is not yet implemented.
- List-type selection fields (in forms) are only partially implemented
- popup menus work, but selection lists are incomplete.
- There is a refresh problem with the blinking insertion point - on
ocassion, the caret remains visible even after the selection has moved to
a new location, or the caret won't appear on a blank line.
- The Attributes Inspector does not yet support list formats. However,
you can use the Format menu to insert lists.
- Numbered lists don't display their "counts" - for now, they
display a "" as a stand-in.
- The Preferences dialog is incomplete.
- You can currently type (and see) multiple spaces even in a paragraph;
only after the file is saved and re-read are the spaces compressed as in
a browser.
- As mentioned previously, PageMill will run under System 7.5. Actually,
it will also run under System 7.1, but you'll need to find your own copy
of Apple's "Drag &Drop Lib", as well as their Apple Color
Chooser (in order to set background colors).
Once again, thanks for using PageMill - let us know what you think!
